Making a Chair

This is the project where we had to design a cardboard chair that was able to hold a persons weight. This was to teach us how to be economical as the challenge was to use the least amount of cardboard as possible. Creating chairs at 1:10 we developed the best chair to design using the least amount of cardboard. Creating the chair first at a scale of 1:10 meant we knew if the chair was going to work.

1:10 chair, first design

The images to the left and below shows one of the first designs of the chair in scale1:10. This design was not used as it wasn't fluid and used a lot of cardboard as inside the base contains loads of cardboard reinforcement poles.
This is the final chair. Scale 1:1 using the least amount of cardboard, this chair was actually able to hold two people.
