For my design for disaster project I created a movable shelter. This shelter was situated in New Zealand lake in response to the Earthquake which happened in Christchurch. I focused mainly on the victims mental state of mind. This is because I wanted to create a shelter which doesn't help the primary affects of a disaster (the destruction) but the secondary, how even a long time after an earthquake has occurred, people still suffer. The idea of this shelter was to offer therapy sessions in the beautiful scenery of this lake. Can change the view of what you wanted to see and how much as the shelter works like a fan.

How it works

This floor plan shows how you would get onto the platform There are steps which lead up to the main area. Walk along the steps to find a fan like structure which can turn around fan in and out, to fit to the needs of the individual using the structure. This is designed to isolate the person, from there surrounding which they can chose whether or not to ignore. The model on the right shows how the fan system works.
